First look inside Notre-Dame ahead of reopening

[ad_1]

A restored Notre-Dame cathedral will soon re-open in Paris – five-and-a-half years after a fire ravaged the Gothic building.

On Friday, France’s President Emmanuel Macron visited the cathedral to mark its imminent re-opening, kicking off a programme of ceremonies that will end with an official “entry” into the cathedral on 7 December and the first Catholic Mass the next day.

The results of the renovation, which cost €700m (£582m), have until now been a closely-guarded secret, with only a few images capturing the progress of the building work released over the last few years.
