The San Francisco 49ers’ season has taken a dramatic turn with a tough Week 12 loss to the Green Bay Packers leaving them at a precarious 5-6 record.

Tied with the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC West and sitting in 4th place, the team finds itself in uncharted territory.

With playoff hopes rapidly diminishing and whispers of head coach Kyle Shanahan potentially facing job uncertainty, wide receiver Deebo Samuel isn’t buying into the coaching speculation.

In a passionate defense during his Bleacher Report podcast, Samuel emphatically challenged the notion of Shanahan being on the hot seat.

“Super Bowl… NFC Championship. Year after that: NFC Championship again. Last year: Super Bowl… Why are you saying he’s on the hot seat?” he argued.

Despite not securing the ultimate prize, they’ve been competitive at the highest level—narrowly losing to powerhouse teams like the Chiefs twice, the Rams once, and the Eagles in 2022.

This season has been nothing short of a nightmare for San Francisco.

The devastating torn ACL of Brandon Aiyuk stands out as a particularly painful blow, but it’s far from the only injury challenge. Nearly every key offensive player has missed significant playing time.

The good news is that the NFC West is still wide open, offering a glimmer of hope.

The 49ers trail the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals—who are tied for first place—by just one game.

While they’ve lost to both of those teams, they still have a shot at surpassing them with a few wins. The downside? Their schedule is about to get significantly tougher.
