Three teams made the postseason out of the American League Central this season, but unfortunately for the Chicago White Sox, they were not one of them.

Not only did the White Sox miss the playoffs, but they had one of the worst seasons in MLB history as they finished with a record of 41 wins and 121 losses.

The White Sox will have some work to do if they want to put together a competitive roster for the 2025 season.

With this offseason being an important one for the White Sox, they have made a contract decision about Gavin Sheets.

According to Jon Heyman on ‘X,’ Sheets was non-tendered by the White Sox.

A basic non-tendered definition is when an organization chooses to not give a player a contract for the upcoming season, therefore making them a free agent.

Sheets came into the league with the White Sox in 2021 and has played all four MLB seasons for the organization.

In 2024, Sheets played in 139 games and batted .233 with 10 home runs, 45 RBIs, and a .660 OPS.

The White Sox struggled in general as a team, but Sheets had a career-high in hits, runs scored, doubles, and triples.

It will be interesting to see how the White Sox approach building their roster for next season and whether or not they completely wipe the roster and opt for a full reset.

The White Sox won the AL Central just four years ago in 2021, but they have dramatically fallen off ever since.

Will Venable, the White Sox’s new manager, will have his work cut out for him if he wants to get this White Sox team back to a competitive level in 2025.
