The New York Giants are shaking things up at quarterback, but not quite in the way most expected.

Though the benching of Daniel Jones ahead of the Week 12 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers came as no surprise, the decision to start Tommy DeVito over Drew Lock certainly turned heads across the NFL.

Wide receiver Malik Nabers, however, seems unfazed by the switch.

The rookie has already shown remarkable adaptability through his first 10 NFL games, and his response to working with DeVito reflects that same confidence.

“His intentions with the ball are precise,” Nabers said, via Art Stapleton of USA Today. “He’s able to deliver the ball before you get out of your break. [Coach Brian] Daboll told me to make sure you get your head around pretty fast because the ball is going to be coming. … Just having that as a quarterback, the anticipation for him to throw the ball before you get out of your break, that’s what we need.”

Daboll is standing firm behind his decision to start DeVito, pointing to the spark the young quarterback brought to the offense last season.

The head coach believes DeVito’s ability to work within the offensive system could provide more production than they were getting from Jones.

DeVito’s last start, which came in Week 15 of the 2023 season, showed room for improvement.

He completed just 56.3 percent of his passes for 55 yards without any touchdowns or interceptions in a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

However, his overall record as a starter tells a more promising story. The Giants were 3-3 in his six starts, when he completed 63.8 percent of his passes (95-for-149) for 913 yards.

More impressively, he threw seven touchdowns against just one interception during that stretch.

As Nabers navigates the first true quarterback change in his young NFL career, his focus remains steadfast.

The talented receiver is determined to showcase his star potential, regardless of who’s delivering the passes.
