The Dallas Cowboys’ season went from bad to worse when starting quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a hamstring injury during Week 9 against the Atlanta Falcons that forced him out of action.
He ultimately needed to have surgery on the ailment, and on Monday, he was placed on injured reserve and shut down for the rest of this season.
Prescott was seen on crutches as he headed into AT&T Stadium for his team’s game against the Houston Texans on Monday, per SportsCenter.

While Prescott was the runner up in the balloting for last season’s MVP award, he wasn’t able to match last year’s production this year.
In eight games in 2024, he threw for 1,978 yards and 11 touchdowns, but he only completed 64.7 percent of his pass attempts and threw eight interceptions.
Dallas has now lost four games in a row after getting destroyed 34-6 by the Philadelphia Eagles last weekend, and given the depth across the NFC, they now have virtually no shot at making the playoffs.
Cooper Rush has taken over under center in Prescott’s absence, but his numbers have been meager.
The Cowboys have other problems besides the underwhelming play of their quarterbacks — they cannot stop the run, and they cannot run the football themselves.
Prescott received a four-year, $240 million contract extension in early September, and they will have to make some significant changes to their roster despite committing so much money to him if they are to become the elite team they have tried to become over the last few years.
