After an inspired finish to the 2023 NFL season, the Las Vegas Raiders chose to remove the interim tag on Antonio Pierce and make him the head coach of the team moving forward, which seemed to be a move that won over the fans, media and players.

However, things have changed drastically since Pierce made an impression on the team last year, as he seems to be losing the locker room while also making some believe that he shouldn’t be the head coach after this season with how he’s handled things during the 2024 campaign.

Heading into Week 11’s matchup on the road against the Miami Dolphins, the Raiders have lost five straight games and look like a team limping to the finish, with their only hope of righting the ship being to bring in a talented young quarterback during the 2025 NFL Draft.

In the meantime, Dianna Russini of The Athletic believes that Pierce doesn’t have much of a case to keep his job as head coach, with the storied franchise being a “mess” at the moment via The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz.

“The Raiders are a mess,” Russini said. … “I think it’s going to be a tough case for Antonio Pierce to continue to be the head coach here just because there hasn’t been any success.”

With seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady now helping call the shots as a part-owner of the team, it’ll be interesting to see what moves will be made in the NFL offseason.

Only time will tell if Pierce will be able to keep his job, especially with some intriguing options on the open market, namely Mike Vrabel and Bill Belichick.
