Right now, just about everyone agrees that the Detroit Lions are the best team in the NFC, if not the entire NFL.
While the defending AFC and Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs are undefeated, the Lions have been winning with more ease than Patrick Mahomes and company, and fans across Michigan are starting to believe that this could be the year the Lions finally win the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
They host the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11, and unfortunately for the Lions, star tight end Sam LaPorta has been ruled out because of a shoulder injury.

Detroit is second in the NFL in points scored, and LaPorta has contributed 25 catches for 366 yards and three touchdowns in nine games.
As a rookie last year, he made 86 catches for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns, which earned him a spot in the Pro Bowl and serious consideration for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Thanks in part to his excellent debut year, the Lions finished 12-5, giving them the NFC North title, and they went all the way to the NFC Championship Game, where they held a third-quarter lead before falling to the San Francisco 49ers.
In its most recent game, Detroit overcame a big halftime deficit to defeat the Houston Texans even though quarterback Jared Goff threw five interceptions, with three coming in the first half.
LaPorta had three receptions for a season-high 66 yards with a touchdown before leaving in the third quarter.
