Ever since quarterback Tua Tagovailoa returned from the third diagnosed concussion of his NFL career, the Miami Dolphins have gotten their offense back on track with him back under center.
However, they have won just one of three games since his return, and they sit with a 3-6 record going into their Week 11 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders.
One may think the Dolphins don’t have any real chance of making the playoffs at this point, but analyst Chris Simms said they are still in the mix for an AFC wild-card berth.
“I think so. … I think that seventh seed in the AFC playoffs, though, is still there and up for grabs,” Simms said, via the “Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz.”

The Dolphins’ remaining schedule is somewhat manageable, and Simms said he feels they will defeat the Raiders and then the New England Patriots in Week 12.
After that, Miami plays at the Green Bay Packers on “Thursday Night Football,” then has games against the Houston Texans and San Francisco 49ers in Weeks 15 and 16, respectively.
While the Dolphins have scored a total of 77 points in their past three games, Simms isn’t sure that type of offensive production will hold up through the rest of the season.
Miami was arguably the NFL’s best and most explosive offensive team in 2023, but this season, wide receiver Tyreek Hill is going through a down year with just 462 receiving yards while dealing with a wrist injury.
Second-year running back De’Von Achane is having a solid season with 457 rushing yards, 42 receptions, 317 receiving yards and five total touchdowns.
