“President-elect Donald Trump is expected to nominate Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) to serve as Secretary of State,” The Hill reports.
“Rubio’s selection to serve as Trump’s top diplomat completes a drastic turnaround from 2016, when the two were fierce rivals in a GOP presidential primary. Earlier this year, Trump nearly chose Rubio as his running mate before selecting Sen. JD Vance (R-OH).”
CNN: “As of the morning, the belief was that Trump was leaning toward Ric Grenell, but over the course of the day, he shifted his preference to Rubio after a number of calls and conversations with allies of the Florida senator.”
NBC News: “Trump could still change his mind, the sources cautioned, noting that the decision wouldn’t be finalized until he makes a formal announcement.”
