The Dallas Cowboys came into the 2024 NFL regular season as a team many believed could represent the NFC in the Super Bowl in February, with so much talent on both sides of the football, led by star quarterback Dak Prescott.

Unfortunately, the season has gotten out of hand for America’s Team, with injuries piling up on both sides of the football, which has led to a 3-6 record after nine games and the outlook of a playoff run looking bleak, to say the least.

After losing to the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles convincingly on Sunday, the Cowboys look like they will limp to the finish line this year, especially with Prescott likely done for the year with a hamstring injury.

With the prospect of Dallas making the playoffs not looking good, Stephen A. Smith believes the team should tank the rest of the way to improve their chances of landing quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft while also hiring Deion Sanders to replace head coach Mike McCarthy via ESPN’s First Take.

“I believe that the Dallas Cowboys should tank the rest of the season, get the No. 1 overall pick so you can draft Shedeur Sanders, and hire Prime Time Deion Sanders as your head coach,” Smith said.

It’ll be interesting to see what longtime team owner and general manager Jerry Jones does from here on out and whether he can look at the long-term picture for Dallas rather than trying to salvage a lost cause this season.

Only time will tell what happens in Dallas, as changes are likely on the horizon, or at least they should be.
