And the Tony winner didn’t want to know anything about what was going on with the audition process for her own sanity.
“I kept telling my team, ‘Do not give me any information. I don’t want to know,'” she continued. “‘I don’t want to know who’s gone in. I don’t want to know what people are being asked to do. I don’t want to know anything about it.'”
But according to the film’s director Jon M. Chu, once Cynthia entered the audition room, “She embodied this version of Elphaba that I had never seen.”
