The New England Patriots understand that the 2024 NFL season is a chance for them to rebuild the roster after suffering disappointing results the past few seasons.
The Patriots have a young and exciting quarterback prospect in Drake Maye, along with solid options on defense to build around.
Head coach Jerod Mayo seems to be making some tangible progress, though he has another tough challenge ahead of him in Week 10 against the Chicago Bears.
Unlike New England, Chicago remains in the playoff mix though it finds itself last in the very competitive NFC North.
The Bears could strengthen their possible playoff fortunes with a win, so the Patriots need to be ready if they hope to spoil the attempt.
New England recently claimed pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue off waivers, but it looks like it will need to wait for the veteran to make his Patriots debut.
“Yannick Ngakoue has been downgraded to out …,” the Patriots wrote on X.

Ngakoue was let go by the Baltimore Ravens, paving the way for New England to sign him.
He should be able to help the pass rush despite his lack of production this season, but it remains to be seen when he’ll get on the field.
After trading Joshua Uche to the Kansas City Chiefs, New England needed a replacement, and Ngakoue should fill that need once he’s ready to go.
