The Los Angeles Lakers are making moves.
J.J. Redick wants to hold the players accountable, even the starters.
Of course, LeBron James and Anthony Davis’ jobs and minutes will most likely be safe, but everybody else will have to earn every minute on the court.
That includes D’Angelo Russell, who was demoted to the second unit in the midst of the team’s struggles on the road.
When asked about that, the former No. 2 pick talked about how he would do whatever the team needs from him to get the job done (via Dan Woike):
“I just want to win,” Russell said. “So whatever it takes, change of plans, whatever it is, whatever Coach needs, try to get the win and be a part of that.”

Russell scored 18 points on 7-of-12 from the floor, adding three assists.
J.J. Redick had been openly critical of Russell after their loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, stating that he had played a season-low 22 minutes because of his “level of compete and attention to detail,” adding that he had “regressed to some of his old habits.”
The Lakers started the season with a bang, but they weren’t able to keep their foot on the gas.
Redick hasn’t hidden from controversy, and he’s unapologetic about his competitive nature and demeanor.
He also wanted to make sure to let everybody know that he felt no ill towards Russell and that his now-viral clip of slamming a chair wasn’t directed at him.
