Calgary will host the 2026 Grey Cup, the Stampeders announced Friday in a press conference at McMahon Stadium.

The game will be played at the Stampeders’ McMahon Stadium on Sunday, November 15, 2026.

“We’re beyond thrilled to bring the Grey Cup back to Calgary in 2026,” CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie said in a statement. “We were blown away by the Stampeders’ bid and we look forward to seeing their incredible vision transformed into reality.”

Calgary’s McMahon Stadium hosted the championship in 2019 when the Winnipeg Blue Bombers defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. However, even at that matchup, the venue was criticized for being out of date. No announcements for stadium upgrades for 2026 have been made yet.

“We thank the CFL, the Board of Governors and Commissioner Randy Ambrosie for this opportunity,” said Stampeders president Jay McNeil in a release put out by the team. “We also thank our partners at the City of Calgary, the Province of Alberta and Tourism Calgary for their support in this endeavour, and we look forward to working together to host a spectacular Grey Cup.

The Edmonton Elks also placed a bid to host the championship, looking for their second opportunity in less than 10 years, having previously hosted it in 2018.

Both bidders have hosted the event five times since their stadiums were constructed.

This year the Grey Cup will be played at BC Place in Vancouver, and the Blue Bombers are next up as Winnipeg will host in 2025 at Princess Auto Stadium.
