Although the Kansas City Chiefs are 8-0, some people still don’t think they’re all that, even though they’re the two-time defending Super Bowl champions.
Much like last season, they haven’t played up to their potential, but they have still found ways to win, even when it has been ugly.
Legendary quarterback Tom Brady was asked by Colin Cowherd on “The Herd w/ Colin Cowherd” if he ever played on a team that was unsure of its offensive identity, and he said the Chiefs do have an offensive identity, and it comes down to what he called “situational football.”
“In the end, when you have Patrick Mahomes and it’s a one score game, everyone is always betting on the Chiefs.”

By some measures, the Chiefs shouldn’t be the only undefeated team in the NFL, but as Brady alluded to, their defense is helping to lead the way, as it did last season.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes isn’t playing well statistically, but as Brady pointed out, it is because he doesn’t have a wealth of receivers and skill players who can make catches and plays on a consistent basis.
While Kansas City recently landed five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, they’re without Rashee Rice, who emerged early this season and last season as a stud, JuJu Smith-Schuster and running back Isiah Pacheco.
But as always, Mahomes finds ways to kill teams, especially in third-down situations, one way or another.
In doing so over the last few years, Mahomes has developed an aura of inevitability, if not an aura of invisibility, that is not unlike the one Brady had for many years, or the one Michael Jordan once had in the NBA.
That could ultimately be the one reason Kansas City wins an unprecedented third straight Super Bowl championship.
