Why Katharine McPhee and David Foster Aren’t “Mourning” Getting Older

Katharine McPhee and David Foster are smashing the notion that everyone hates getting older.

In fact, the couple—who share 3-year-old son Rennie—aren’t ones to make a big deal about it despite celebrating milestone birthdays this year.

“I welcomed my 40s,” Katharine told People in an interview published Nov. 5, “and David didn’t have any conversations about, like, ‘Oh, I can’t believe I’m 75,’ or I didn’t say, like, ‘Oh, I can’t believe I’m 40. I’m really mourning that.'”

And why is that? As Katharine put it, she and David, who she married in 2019, are “very similar” in their approach to getting older.

“We’re kind of both cut from the same cloth,” she added. “It’s like we sort of just accept life as it comes, and we’re not fighting getting older, because it just keeps getting better.”

And David—who is also father to children Alison Jones, 54, Amy Foster, 51, with ex-wife B.J. Cook, as well as Sara Foster, 43, Erin Foster, 42, Jordan Foster, 39, from his marriage to Rebecca Dyer—echoed his wife’s statement.
