The Dallas Cowboys were able to make a move at the trade deadline.

They traded a fourth-round pick to the Carolina Panthers for young wide receiver Jonathan Mingo and a seventh-round pick.

However, there are some pundits out there, such as former quarterback Robert Griffin III, who believe that the Cowboys are still the biggest losers of the deadline.

“Every single NFL executive that I talked to told me that it was a bad deal to give up so much to get Jonathan Mingo,” Griffin said Wednesday on The Dan Patrick Show.

A fourth-round draft pick is a very valuable asset in today’s NFL.

The Cowboys themselves drafted their franchise quarterback Dak Prescott in the fourth round back in 2016.

Mingo, who is just 23 years of age, caught 43 passes for 418 yards and no touchdowns as a rookie with Carolina last season.

This year, he has caught 12 passes for 121 yards and no touchdowns in nine games played.

It isn’t like Dallas traded for a superstar wide receiver or a player who can help them win a championship right now.

He is more of a developmental piece at this moment in time.

Giving up a fourth-round pick for a non-starter while your franchise quarterback is going to be out for multiple weeks due to a hamstring injury isn’t exactly the answer to the prayers of Cowboys fans.

If Dallas ends up going on an unexpected run and Mingo becomes a star, then a lot of pundits will be proven wrong.

But, given their upcoming schedule and Prescott’s injury, that scenario seems unlikely.
