The Philadelphia 76ers can’t seem to catch a break.

Even though they saw the return of Paul George on Monday night, the team still fell 118-116 to the Phoenix Suns.

Following the game, George took responsibility for the team’s defeat.

According to Keith Pompey, via Legion Hoops, George simply said, “I was bad.”

It was clear that George was still shaking off the rust after weeks on the sidelines because of an injury.

He scored 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists, shooting just 4-of-14 from the floor, or 28.6%.

Things were even worse from beyond the arc and George had a three-point percentage of only 14.3%.

George’s shortcomings are even more painful because the team lost by only two points.

If he had played better, Philadelphia could have walked away with a victory.

The 76ers are now just 1-5 and still without Joel Embiid.

There are many worries about their path ahead but there are some silver linings to look to.

Embiid is getting healthier and George is now back in the rotation.

That means things could get better in the weeks ahead, even though they look rather bleak right now.

The 76ers will next play the Los Angeles Clippers and Lakers as they wrap up their three-game road trip.

Perhaps George’s troubles will disappear in the days ahead and more time practicing and playing with his team will help him find his rhythm.

George averaged 22.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.5 assists last season so Monday night’s game was an outlier and not the norm for him.

Fans hope he looks much more like his regular self very soon.
