There was already some angst surrounding the Dallas Cowboys coming into this season because of the multiple holes they have throughout their roster.
But now, things have gone from bad to worse for them.
They fell to the Atlanta Falcons, 27-21, on Sunday for their third loss in a row, which dropped their record to 3-5, and even worse, they lost quarterback Dak Prescott to a hamstring injury.
Prescott is expected to miss multiple weeks as a result, and Nick Wright said on Fox Sports 1’s “First Things First” that the Cowboys’ “season is definitively over.”

With Prescott unable to play, Cooper Rush will take over under center, but the Cowboys simply have too many problems to fix with the time that is remaining in the season.
They may have the NFL’s weakest rushing offense and they’re unable to stop the run defensively, which is a big reason they rank 31st in points given up.
They also don’t have a clear-cut WR2 behind CeeDee Lamb, and their two best defensive backs — DaRon Bland and Trevon Diggs — are dealing with injuries.
Dallas has committed lots of money to both Prescott and Lamb in the form of huge contract extensions they recently gave out, which will make it difficult for them to solve their roster deficiencies.
They have the Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans and Washington Commanders coming up on their schedule over the next three weeks, which now makes it seem unlikely they will make the playoffs, let alone make an extended run there.
