Coming into this season, there was a ton of optimism about the Green Bay Packers after they finished last season with a flurry and nearly reached the NFC Championship Game.
Some tabbed them as Super Bowl contenders and were even calling Jordan Love one of the NFL’s elite quarterbacks after he played very well during the second half of 2023 after a shaky start.
But people have been forced to tap the brakes a bit on that optimism, especially after the Packers lost 24-14 to the Detroit Lions, who are currently the best team in the NFC.
Love had a poor outing versus the Lions, and he’s tied for the most interceptions with 10, which caused one analyst to say he needs to stop making “rookie mistakes,” per UNSPORTSMANLIKE Radio.
At some point, Jordan Love has to stop making the rookie mistakes.

On Sunday, Love had an interception with less than a minute left in the second quarter that was returned by Kerby Joseph for a touchdown and turned a competitive game into one that the Lions led 16-3.

It was his second pick-six of the year and his seventh straight game with at least one interception.
From that point on, it was no contest.
Green Bay still holds a very solid and respectable 6-3 record, but it is becoming clear that they still have some growth to do before they can call themselves Super Bowl contenders.
They’re third in the NFC North, which has become the strongest division in all of football, behind the Lions and the surprising Minnesota Vikings.
The Packers are getting excellent production from new running back Josh Jacobs, and wide receiver Jayden Reed is starting to look like a Pro Bowl-caliber player.
