The New Orleans Saints got off to a fast start to the 2024 NFL season, winning consecutive games by a wide margin, with veteran quarterback Derek Carr and the offense putting up 91 points combined.
New Orleans seemed to be a team that had figured something out in the offseason, which carried over to the regular season, as its offense looked ready to have a breakout year.
Unfortunately for the Saints, those two weeks of a potent offense now seem like a fluke, as the team hasn’t won a game since, heading into Week 9 with a six-game losing streak.
One of the reasons for the offense falling flat is Carr cooling off and then going down with an injury that resulted in him missing three games and being replaced by rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler.
Fortunately for the Saints, Carr is likely to get back on the field in Week 9 when the Saints go on the road to take on the lowly division-rival Carolina Panthers, via the NFL on X.

If Carr can get back to the form he was at during the first two games of the season, New Orleans has a chance to bounce back and potentially salvage the season, even though the team is in a big hole due to its long losing streak.
Only time will tell if the Saints can recover, but they’ll have a great opportunity against arguably the worst team in the league.
