Dwight Howard had one of the best careers in recent NBA history, yet he doesn’t seem to get enough credit for that.

He was one of the most dominant big men in the league in his prime, and though he didn’t win a ring when he was still a star, he’s still an NBA champion.

Notably, he knew what it was like to be on both ends of the spectrum with Los Angeles Lakers fans.

He left the team on a low note in his first tenure, walking away as a free agent after just one season and underperforming in the playoffs.

However, he returned as a much more mature player and was instrumental in their championship run in the 2020 bubble season.

That’s why Lakers fans have embraced him, and he now loves them back.

“Dwight Howard says he loved being back in LA and visiting Crypto Arena this evening,” Brandon Robinson of Scoop B Radio wrote on X. “‘I love it man,’ Howard told me via text message.”

Howard knew he had a big debt with Lakers fans, and he paid it to the best of his ability.

Granted, it would’ve been great to watch him dominate with Kobe Bryant for years, but perhaps they were never meant to be together because of their significantly different personalities.

Howard could someday enter the Basketball Hall of Fame, and even if some fans don’t give him credit, he should be remembered as one of the best big men of his time.
