The 2024-25 Toronto Raptors season is off to a rough start.
Raptors guard Immanuel Quickley exited Wednesday’s season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers after suffering a right-side pelvic contusion, the team announced. He was ruled out for the remainder of the game.
The incident occurred with four minutes left in the second quarter. Quickley was going for a rebound on the defensive end but was undercut by Cavaliers guard Darius Garland as he was coming down. Quickley went down hard on the play and seemed to be grabbing at his back.
The Raptors guard stayed in the game for another two minutes before eventually checking out and heading back to the team’s locker room. He was replaced in the starting lineup by Davion Mitchell at the start of the third quarter.
Up to that point in the game, Quickley had 13 points, two rebounds and four assists in 14 minutes.
Quickley, 25, is expected to be a big contributor for the Raptors this season after signing a five-year, $162 million contract in the off-season. He averaged 18.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 6.8 assists in 38 games with Toronto last season.
