Hello LIY Community, If you don’t me yet, I’m Cassidy, the Director of Marketing here at Living in Yellow! I grew up not to far from Erin, went to college at Purdue University and married my high school sweetheart! In 2023, we welcomed our beautiful, fun, smart, goofy, and happy little girl to our family! The first year was filled with the highest of highs and lowest of lows. We have never worked harder on such little sleep. My husband and I have really had to lean on each other over the past year [parenting is TOUGH]. But wow, it is rewarding. I always say that [for better or worse] over the past year, I have FELT every. single. day. There is no day that simply slips by… I really don’t have that luxury anymore. But, at the same time, it means that I get to soak up every moment and every day with my sweet girl. I will never look back and wish that we spent less time together. I feel so lucky, honored and privileged to be with my daughter in her first year of life, day in and day out.

All that said, celebrating her first birthday felt SO special and fun! We chose the theme ONE Silly Goose for our goofy girl. I loved leaning on my crafty side and getting creative with the theme! Today, I am sharing a few of my favorite aspects of her party!

Talk about adorable! I found the most PERFECT sweatshirt for my daughter. I wanted something on theme that she would wear more than once, insert this sweater!

If you are looking for an EASY yet crowd pleasing dessert, you’re in the right place! I purchased two large rice krispie sheets from Walmart, snagged a goose shaped cookie cutter, butter cream icing and sprinkles. This was such an approachable to create a themed dessert without breaking the bank or having to spend hours in the kitchen! I used the cookie cutter to cut the shapes from the rice crispy sheet, then iced them, added a sprinkle for the eye and used a little food color for the beak! I will note: We had to use some elbow grease for actually cutting the shapes out. I think if I were to do it again, I would try heating the rice crispy up just a little but for a smoother cut!

I ordered these geese and placed them around the house with mini party hats! Each kiddo that came to the party got to leave with one and it was a big hit!

Another fun and easy way to customize your decor! I ordered a blank “1” balloon and then ordered geese stickers to place on it! I got so many compliments and question about it – everyone thought it was custom! Such an attainable way to incorporate your theme without going overboard!

Another hit of the party! This homemade banner of my daughter. This was SO fun to create. All I did was gather photos from each month, cropped them to just her face, set them to B&W, and had them printed at Shutterfly! I cut them to shape and added the decorations! Side note: Did you know you can get unlimited free prints through Shutterfly’s app!? You just pay shipping and handling. Not sponsored, just an amazing hack!

Can you believe this felt Happy Birthday banner is from Amazon!? It’s adorable and the quality was amazing! I plan to reuse this banner for each of her birthdays! Also peep my homemade “ONE” high chair banner – maybe not the most polished DIY, but I loved it all the same.

And there you have it! My simple ONE silly goose party! It was so much fun to put together and so special to celebrate my daughter’s first year!
