The Philadelphia 76ers will start their season on Wednesday night in a highly anticipated game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Unfortunately, they will be without their biggest star.

It is being reported by RealGM, via NBACentral, that Joel Embiid is out for the first week of the new season.

This is truly bad news for the Sixers and, hopefully, not a sign of things to come.

Embiid hasn’t been participating in the preseason as he has tried to tend to his left knee problems.

Apparently, those problems aren’t solved yet and he will miss the first week of play.

Despite that, the team claims that he is progressing well and that is good news that suggests he should be back soon.

The 76ers will also be without Paul George, who injured himself during the preseason but is likely back soon.

Embiid’s career has been filled with injuries lately.

Last year was plagued with problems and even after his return, he was never completely the same.

He looked a bit better in the Olympics, although some people commented on his physicality and the condition of his body, and there were hopes he’d be in great shape when the season started.

Following the Olympics, Embiid even lost some weight, which was a very promising sign.

But this latest news proves that he’s not 100% ready to go.

When will he be and what will this cost the 76ers?

They can win without him but it’ll be tough, especially with George also on the sidelines.

This is not the way Philadelphia wanted to start the 2024-25 season.
