The New York Mets have had a tough time keeping Max Muncy off the bases.
After walking in each of his first three trips to the plate on Thursday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman made post-season history.
Muncy’s walk in the fifth inning marked the 11th straight plate appearance in which he had reached base, dating back to Game 2 of the NLCS.
He added to the record in the seventh, reaching on a single for his 12 consecutive time on base.
The previous record was held by David Ortiz, who reached 10 straight in 2007 and Billy Harcher, who did the same in 1990.
In those 12 trips, Muncy has walked eight times and hit two home runs and two single.
Through his fourth plate appearance on Thursday, Muncy held a 1.126 OPS with seven hits and nine walks.
The 34-year-old has always upped his game in October. This is his sixth post-season with the Dodgers and he owned a career .239/.394/.494 slash line in 54 playoff games entering Game 4.
