Despite a trickle of optimism after wins in Week 3 and Week 5, the New York Giants are back in a familiar position: under .500 and having to deal with the poor play of quarterback Daniel Jones.

But now they have a new problem: a foot injury suffered by left tackle Andrew Thomas that will sideline him for the rest of the season.

“You can’t replace an Andrew Thomas,” head coach Brian Daboll said, via Giants Videos.

New York is expected to turn to Joshua Ezeudu, a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft who has started seven of his 22 career games, as their starting left tackle.

The offensive line has already been a relative weakness, but now it will be even more of a concern.

Overall, the Giants have been anemic offensively. They are tied for 19th in passing touchdowns, 20th in total rushing yards, tied for 24th in rushing touchdowns and 29th in points per game.

Jones has thrown just six touchdown passes and has four interceptions with a 62.1 percent pass completion rate, and he is clearly someone they will have to upgrade from sooner rather than later.

The one bright spot on offense has been rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, who has caught 35 passes for 386 yards and three touchdowns in four games this season.

However, he has missed New York’s past two games with a concussion, and his return to the field becomes even more crucial with Thomas now lost for the season.
