Saints’ Shaheed to undergo menicus surgery; Olave out with concussion

All of a sudden, the Saints’ injury report is starting to get packed.

New Orleans has ruled out wide receivers Rashid Shaheed and Chris Olave for Thursday night’s game against the Denver Broncos, head coach Dennis Allen told reporters Wednesday.

Shaheed is set to undergo meniscus surgery on Thursday to determine the severity of his injury. Should the receiver need a full repair, his season would be over, but if he just needs a trim, he would likely just be sidelined for multiple weeks, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The 26-year-old has a team-high 349 receiving yards this season and three touchdowns.

Olave, meanwhile, suffered a concussion in New Orleans’ blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The former Ohio State star left the game in the first quarter after a hit on his first catch of the day.

He has missed the last three days of practice.

The 24-year-old has 280 receiving yards this season and one touchdown.

Also on the injury report are quarterback Derek Carr (oblique), linebacker Pete Werner (hamstring) and running back Alvin Kamara (hand) among others.
