Nylander a game-time decision vs. Kings; Woll faces shots at practice

Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube provided updates Wednesday on a couple of key players ahead of their game against the Kings.

Forward William Nylander missed Wednesday’s optional practice with an illness and, according to Berube, is a game-time decision for Wednesday night’s game against Los Angeles.

Berube did say, however, that the 28-year-old’s health is improving.

Nylander missed Tuesday’s practice with the illness. Following that skate, Berube told reporters that it was “up in the air” as to whether Nylander would play Wednesday, adding that an illness was going around the Leafs’ locker room. John Tavares missed practice earlier this week with an illness but has been back with the team since Tuesday.

The Swedish forward has suited up in all three of Toronto’s games this season and has two goals.

Goaltender Joseph Woll, meanwhile, faced shots from teammates at practice for the first time since hitting the injured reserve last week with lower-body tightness.

At the last two practices, Woll got on the ice before the team to put in some work on his own. However, he did not practice with the rest of the group before Wednesday. Anthony Stolarz and rookie Dennis Hildeby have been the two netminders.

The Maple Leafs host the Kings at 7:30 p.m. ET / 4:30 p.m. PT. You can watch the game on Sportsnet or stream on Sportsnet+.
