The new NBA season hasn’t even started and the Philadelphia 76ers may have already lost Paul George.

George hyperextended his knee during Monday night’s preseason game and was forced to exit and not return.

Although the injury could have been far worse, fans are rightfully concerned that George might now miss time with the team and may not be ready for the regular season next week.

Speaking to Keith Pompey and the press, 76ers head coach Nick Nurse said that George got looked at by team doctors on Tuesday and that “everything checks out okay.”

He said George is in “good spirits” but has to undergo further imaging before any plans can be made for the next steps.

In other words, Nurse isn’t commenting on George’s availability for next week.

The injury looked painful but it also didn’t seem to be too devastating.

Therefore, even if George misses time he will probably be back with his new team soon.

That’s good news but this incident reiterates the fact that everything can change in the blink of an eye.

Fans have high hopes for Philadelphia but everyone always knew things could be compromised by injuries.

Like many other teams, the Sixers have had bad luck when it comes to getting hurt.

This has derailed Joel Embiid again and again, including last season.

George had his fair share of injuries during his years with the Los Angeles Clippers but he was coming into this season healthy and healed.

Ideally, this is just a minor setback and he’s suiting up with his team again soon.

The 76ers didn’t want another year plagued with injuries and they hope this is just a small, isolated hiccup.
