The Ottawa Senators have recalled goaltender Mads Søgaard on an emergency basis.
The news comes after starting goaltender Linus Ullmark missed practice Sunday with what head coach Travis Green described as a maintenance day.
The 31-year-old allowed four goals on 26 shots in Ottawa’s 4-1 loss to the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night and finished the game. He won in his first regular-season start with the Senators on Thursday, making 32 saves against the Florida Panthers.
Ullmark had missed four days early in training camp with an undisclosed injury. The Senators locked up Ullmark to a a four-year, $33 million before the start of the season.
If Ullmark is unable to play against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday afternoon, Anton Forsberg would be in line to get the start.
Søgaard looked strong in his first start in the AHL, allowing one goal on 28 shots in a shootout loss.
