The Dallas Cowboys’ 2024 season is turning into a real head-scratcher.
Their latest stumble, a 47-9 drubbing by the Detroit Lions, has left fans and pundits alike wondering what’s gone wrong in Big D.
The game started with a flicker of hope, but it quickly spiraled into a familiar nightmare for the Cowboys faithful.
From kickoff to final whistle, the Lions dominated every facet of the game, while Mike McCarthy’s squad continued their baffling struggles at home.
This wasn’t just any loss – it was a 38-point shellacking that now stands as the worst defeat ever at AT&T Stadium and in the Jerry Jones era.
You’d think a loss like this would have Jerry itching to shake things up. Some are even calling for McCarthy’s head. But Jerry? He’s singing a different tune.
Dallas Morning News’ David Moore reported on Jerry’s post-game comments.
When asked about a potential coaching change, Jerry didn’t mince words: “I haven’t even considered that. I’m not considering that, so you’re clear.”
Jerry Jones was asked about a HC change.
“I haven’t even considered that,” Jones said. “I’m not considering that, so you’re clear.”
When told he has made a change in season before, he bristled & responded, “do you think I’m an idiot” when addressing hypotheticals.

When reminded he’s made mid-season changes before, Jerry bristled. “Do you think I’m an idiot?” he fired back about addressing hypotheticals. “I’m not.”
Still, the Cowboys have some serious soul-searching to do. McCarthy’s job security is understandably in question now.
Jerry kicked off the season knowing it was McCarthy’s contract year, so this chatter was bound to surface sooner or later.
If the team doesn’t right the ship soon, expect this topic to linger all season long.
Will Jerry stick to his guns about McCarthy? Only time will tell. But one thing’s for sure – the pressure’s on for the America’s Team, and the clock is ticking.
