The San Francisco 49ers took down the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night to move into a tie for first place in the NFC West at 3-3 following the convincing 36-24 win.

Even though the Niners were able to pull off the win, they unfortunately had to do it without running back Jordan Mason, who went down early in the game with an injury.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared an update on Mason’s injury, revealing it to be a sprained AC joint that is not considered serious, but the team will still conduct further testing to determine the severity of the injury and what it means going forward.

Mason recaptured the NFL lead in rushing yards during the game and collected 73 yards on nine carries before leaving due to the injury and passing the torch to Isaac Guerendo, who ran for 99 yards on ten carries in relief of Mason.

Mason is now up to 609 yards and three touchdowns on 5.3 yards per carry and holds a slight temporary lead over Derrick Henry for the top spot.

The undrafted third-year back has done an outstanding job filling in for the injured Christian McCaffrey all year and has expressed his admiration in the past for how CMC handles such a heavy workload when he is healthy.

This injury will test Mason and give him another taste of what it’s like to be a workhorse like McCaffrey is, and hopefully, for the Niners, further testing confirms it is just a minor sprain and he’ll be able to get back in the lineup right away.
