Former First Take and Undisputed host Skip Bayless has always gone to war for 7-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady and will defend him to the end of the earth.

That’s why it’s no surprise he went scorched earth on Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield for his recent comments about Brady.

Bayless recently took to X and went at Mayfield for his comments, saying “I’ve defended Baker for maturing, saying all the right things. But now on a podcast he says Brady kept the team on edge, stressed, purposely threw balls away on plays he didn’t want called. I’m sure much true there but Baker: A BUNCH OF YOUR TEAMMATES HAVE RINGS BECAUSE OF BRADY.”

Baker has never been one to bite his tongue, and neither has Bayless, especially when it comes to even a perceived slight against Brady.

His former co-host, Shannon Sharpe, only mildly criticized Brady one time and Bayless went back at him so violently and personally that it caused the fallout of their partnership.

For reference, Baker said about Brady earlier this week “The building was a little bit different with Tom in there. Obviously, playing-wise, Tom is different. He had everybody dialed in, high-strung environment, so I think everybody was pretty stressed out. They wanted me to come in, be myself, bring the joy back to football for guys who weren’t having as much fun.”

Just because Baker is completely different from Brady doesn’t mean this team doesn’t love him just as much, and with the team doing so well, there’s no way something as fickle as this quote is going to fracture the locker room.
