Heading into the 2023-24 NBA regular season, no team in the league was in a better position to have a great year and win it all than the Boston Celtics, as they reloaded by adding Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday to an already talented squad led by Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.
Fortunately for Boston, the storied franchise was able to live up to the hype of having one of the most talented rosters in the NBA, as they went on to win a league-best 64 wins and then cruise to the NBA Finals, where they took down Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks with relative ease in five games.
With all that had happened during the 2023-24 campaign, Tatum should be on top of the world, winning his first title and finally getting the Celtics sitting atop the NBA world, but he dealt with a lot of heat after watching from the bench during the 2024 Olympics on the way to a gold medal for Team USA.
Tatum admits that it wasn’t easy to deal with all that the media and the fans said as he dealt with a humbling experience via Legion Hoops.
“It’s tough to see people talking about you on TV or doubting you on TV, or all the things they say on Twitter because for one, how much you sacrifice and how hard you work on your craft… You want to be the best. You want to play your best every single night and it just doesn’t work out that way,” Tatum said.

Although Tatum went through a brutal offseason that should’ve been a celebration of what he’s accomplished in his career, the Celtics superstar has some fuel heading into next season, which he can use to his advantage.
It’ll be interesting to see how Tatum handles this adversity and if he can use it rather than let it bring him down moving forward.
