The Philadelphia Eagles’ locker room atmosphere following Week 2 was undoubtedly heavy.
Despite their determination to move past the 2023 season, the Eagles find themselves still grappling with unresolved issues two games into the new season.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts took charge in the aftermath of the loss, gathering the team for a collective analysis of their performance.
His demeanor during the postgame media interaction suggested a forceful address to his teammates, likely filled with urgent calls for improvement.
However, Hurts’ hoarse voice wasn’t solely due to postgame discussions or in-game exclamations.
The quarterback recently said he had been “battling something all week” leading up to the game against the Atlanta Falcons, which explained his vocal strain.

Hurts also mentioned he was still in the process of recovering from an illness.
Despite that ailment, he completed 23 of 30 passes for 183 yards and a touchdown, while also rushing for 85 yards on 13 carries and scoring on the signature “Tush Push” play.
However, a crucial interception late in the game ultimately sealed the Eagles’ fate.
Their struggles closing out games have become a concerning trend. Since last season, they’ve suffered a league-high four losses after leading in the final two minutes.
Now, Philadelphia faces the pressing challenge of rediscovering its winning formula and addressing its late-game vulnerabilities, starting in Week 3 on the road against the surprising New Orleans Saints.
