For the last two seasons, Andrew Wiggins of the Golden State Warriors has been dealing with some tough personal issues and has missed many games because of that.

Sadly, on Friday afternoon, his family announced that his father, Mitchell, had passed away.

The news was shared by NBACentral and many outlets, as they highlighted Mitchell’s impact on his son as well as his own professional basketball career.

The outpouring of support from Warriors fans was swift and from the heart.

Many people said they’d be praying for the Wiggins family, and many others hoped they could find peace after Mitchell’s passing.

There were plenty of people who commented on Wiggins’ output over the last couple of seasons.

He has taken multiple leaves of absence to deal with his family issues, although the specifics weren’t ever revealed.

However, it’s clear now that the health of his father was in decline and that was the cause of his time away from the game.

Some people are hoping that the loss of his father will inspire Wiggins to play even better in the upcoming season.

His output diminished last season and he averaged 13.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists.

Even with his up-and-down record lately, Wiggins is a valued part of the Warriors.

Everyone, from the fans to the players, is wishing for the best for Wiggins and his family during this very difficult time.

When he is ready, they will be eager to welcome him back with open arms and start to look forward to the season ahead.
