For a team to achieve its full potential, it has to stay healthy, but unfortunately, football is a violent game where injuries are a part of the deal more than in any other team sport.

The Denver Broncos are looking to finally start heading in the right direction after missing the playoffs in each of the past eight seasons, and they may have some reason for hope in the form of rookie quarterback Bo Nix.

They may not have a good chance of returning to the postseason this season, but they are fully healthy heading into their regular season opener at the Seattle Seahawks, and that should help them take a step back toward respectability.

“The Broncos have a perfect bill of health heading into Sunday’s game,” wrote Zac Stevens of DNVR Sports.

Nix played stellar football at the University of Oregon the past two seasons, and in 2023 he led the NCAA in passing touchdowns while setting a single-season record in pass completion percentage.

Some have said he has some similarities to Drew Brees, who thrived under current Broncos head coach Sean Payton from 2006 to 2020 while with the New Orleans Saints.

Denver doesn’t have a lot of high-level talent, but they do have a solid wide receiver in Courtland Sutton, who had 59 catches for 772 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023.

They also have Patrick Surtain II, one of the better cornerbacks in the league who has made the Pro Bowl the past two seasons and just agreed to a four-year, $96 million contract extension.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks are looking to hold on to the respectability they attained in 2022 following the trade of franchise QB Russell Wilson to the Broncos, a deal that most agree was disastrous for Denver.
