The Las Vegas Raiders have arguably the worst quarterback situation in the entire NFL.

Gardner Minshew is easy to root for and a very good backup, but he’s just not starting quarterback material.

As for Aidan O’Connell, losing his job to Minshew makes his status self-explanatory.

Considering that, Mike Jones of The Athletic believes it will eventually lead to star wide receiver Davante Adams requesting a trade.

“It’s only a matter of time before he asks out of Las Vegas. Will the Raiders oblige and send him to a team he finds appealing? If things quickly go south, they just might,” Jones wrote.

It likely would make sense for both parties.

Adams agreed to leave the Green Bay Packers and take his talents to Las Vegas because he was going to reunite with his friend and college teammate, quarterback Derek Carr.

Carr is no longer on the team, and Adams didn’t mince his words or hide his feelings about his frustration with all the losing and the way things were being handled by the Raiders.

He did seem sold on head coach Antonio Pierce’s new vision for the team, but that might not last long if — when — they start struggling offensively again.

Adams still managed to post 1,144 receiving yards and eight touchdowns last season, but those numbers were mortal and subpar by his All-Pro standards.

The 32-year-old likely wants to win a Super Bowl, and though he admitted he might not want to uproot his family again or play in cold weather, he may want to reconsider his stance to reach that goal.

Adams is still one of the best wide receivers in the game, and the Raiders could use as many assets as they could get for him in a trade.

So, barring a major turn of events, he’s going to be the focus of trade rumors again in 2024.
