At one point during his playing career on the professional level, Michael Thomas was considered to be among the elite class of wide receivers and a favorite target of legendary quarterback Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints.
During his prime, Thomas had two All-Pro nods to his credit and was getting a lot of consideration as arguably the best wide receiver in the league, as he was putting up numbers on an annual basis for the Saints while keeping the team’s offense firing on all cylinders.
Unfortunately for Thomas, after his last All-Pro season in 2019, things went downhill for the talented wide receiver. He simply was unable to stay healthy, resulting in 20 games played from 2020 to the end of last season.
Things have gotten so bad for Thomas that he’s currently a free agent in the NFL with no teams calling to gauge interest, and now things have gotten even worse as he has been suspended for one game by the league for violating the personal conduct policy, according to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

Here are some fan reactions to the news about Thomas’ situation:
Why doesn’t he just retire

Dude just needs to hang it up already; he had his moment, but it’s over clearly

Obviously, getting suspended, especially for violating the NFL’s conduct policy, will not bode well for his chances of landing with a new team before Week 1 or during the 2024 regular season.
However, players like Thomas, who have proven to excel at the highest level, can be attractive additions when injuries start to run rampant around the league at the wide receiver position.
