Another Canadian will be entering the octagon on home soil later this year.
Mike Malott, from Burlington, Ont., has been added to the card for a UFC Fight Night event in Edmonton on Nov. 2. Malott will face Texas native Trevin Giles in a welterweight bout.
The fight will be Malott’s first since January at UFC 297 in Toronto when he lost to Neil Magney by technical knockout. It was his first loss in the UFC after earning a contract through Dana White’s Contender Series in 2021.
Malott had a fight scheduled for a summer against Gilbert Urbina but it was called off after both fighters were injured in the lead-up to the fight.
Malott is the fifth Canadian added to the card in Edmonton, joining:
• Marc-Andre Barriault (Gatineau, Que.) vs. Dustin Stoltzfus
• Jamey-Lyn Horth (Squamish, B.C.) vs. Ivana Petrovic
• Ariane da Silva vs. Jasmine Jasudavicius (St. Catharines, Ont.)
• Chad Anheliger (Calgary) vs. Cody Gibson
The event will be headlined by a co-main event featuring Derrick Lewis vs. Jhonata Diniz and Rose Namajunas vs. Erin Blanchfield. Lewis was originally scheduled to fight Alexandr Romanov, who will instead face Rodrigo Nascimento in Edmonton.
