Management Occupations drive big data-related hiring activity

Management Occupations, with a share of 20%, emerged as the top big data-related job roles within the consumer industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings drop by 0.22% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Mathematical Occupations came in second with a share of 15% in Q2 2024, with new job postings dropping by 27% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent big data roles include Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 9% share in Q2 2024, Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 4% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in consumer industry accounted for 17% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were PepsiCo, Arcelik, Reckitt Benckiser Group, British American Tobacco, and Petco Health and Wellness. Together they accounted for a combined share of 17% of all big data-related new jobs in the consumer industry.

PepsiCo posted 461 big data-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Arcelik 454 jobs, Reckitt Benckiser Group 377 jobs, British American Tobacco 351 jobs, and Petco Health and Wellness 340 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 43.13% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024

The largest share of big data-related new job postings in the consumer industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 43.13% followed by India (9.68%) and Turkey (4.33%). The share represented by the US was eight percentage points higher than the 34.85% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
