The deadline for NFL teams to cut down their rosters to 53 players has come and gone.
For some teams, that meant some difficult decisions as far as having to release some players who are perfectly capable of contributing this season.
The San Francisco 49ers, arguably the most talented team in the league, cut 11 players in order to trim their roster to where it needed to be, per ESPN insider Adam Schefter.
49ers released the following veterans:
OL Ben Bartch
WR Robbie Chosen
OL Chris Hubbard
DL T.Y. McGill Jr.
OL Brandon Parker
TE Eric Saubert
WR Trent Taylor
TE Logan Thomas
S Tracy Walker III
DL Nick Williams

Two of the more interesting players they let go are wide receiver Robbie Chosen and tight end Logan Thomas.
Chosen, who is entering his ninth NFL season, was brought in to provide some veteran depth while the 49ers deal with the ongoing Brandon Aiyuk contract saga.
Aiyuk is still looking for a lucrative extension or, failing that, a trade to a team that would give him such an extension, and if he isn’t available for Week 1, multiple players will need to pick up the slack.
Thomas was signed by the Niners during the offseason, cut during training camp and then re-signed days later.
It was thought he could give them the type of depth behind All-Pro tight end George Kittle they haven’t had, but instead, Thomas is no longer a member of the team.
A good number of those players cut by the Niners are veterans, as they instead chose to keep some rookies who seem to have real promise.
San Francisco will begin the regular season on Sept. 9 at home against Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets.
