Over the past couple of months, there’s been a lot of tension within the Dallas Cowboys organization with a severe lack of moves during the NFL offseason to improve the squad and the team seemingly reluctant to sign stars Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb to lucrative long-term contract extensions.
Although Prescott’s long-term future with the team seems to still be up in the air, which might carry over to next offseason, the Cowboys did make a deal with Lamb on Monday, signing him to a four-year extension worth $136 million, which comes with $100 million guaranteed.
As a result of signing this new deal, Lamb now ranks just behind superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings in terms of annual earnings, making $1 million less per year at $34 million a season.
Despite being frustrated with the process of going through these contract talks with the Cowboys brass, Lamb seems relieved as he took to Instagram on Monday with a smile from ear to ear via Brandon Loree of Blogging the Boys.

With Lamb now made whole with the contract extension he was looking for, which makes him one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the game and in the same category as Jefferson, the Cowboys can head into Week 1 on the road against the Cleveland Browns without any significant distractions that dominate the headlines.
Only time will tell how Prescott’s contract talks with the team pan out, but in the meantime, the Cowboys seem to have made the right move by securing the future of arguably their best offensive player.
