As was the case a year ago, there are high expectations for the New York Jets this season because of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers and a strong overall roster.
They also have plenty of doubters who feel they will ultimately underperform, partly because Rodgers is coming off the torn Achilles he suffered on their first offensive series of 2023 and has 15 years of wear and tear as a starting quarterback.
Brett Favre was Rodgers’ predecessor as the Green Bay Packers’ QB1, and he told Zach Gelb that he expects Rodgers to potentially lead New York to a championship and at least an AFC Championship game appearance this season.

Favre praised Rodgers’ football IQ, saying it’s the highest of anyone he’s ever been around, and he also said “there is probably not a better playmaker at quarterback starting in the league right now” than Rodgers.
He also cited New York’s defense as something that will give them a chance to win just about every week.
There is no doubting that defense — it features multiple stars, including cornerback Sauce Gardner, defensive lineman Quinnen Williams and linebacker Jermaine Johnson II.
However, newcomer Haason Reddick, a two-time Pro Bowl pass rusher, recently asked to be traded and has been looking for a contract extension for the last few months, and it’s a situation the Jets will have to figure out.
Of course, the big question is how well Rodgers will play considering his whole situation.
If he continues to play at a Pro Bowl level and hasn’t lost any real mobility, there is every reason to believe the Jets will be playing into at least late January this season.
