The Kansas City Chiefs are going for an unprecedented Super Bowl three-peat this season, but it won’t exactly be easy for them to accomplish that task.

Winning the last two Super Bowl championships and three in the last five seasons wasn’t exactly easy for them either, as they had to overcome sizable deficits each time and huff and puff in crunch time in order to emerge victorious.

One analyst doesn’t seem too confident that Patrick Mahomes and crew will win it all yet again this season.

While on “The Herd w/ Colin Cowherd,” Jason McIntyre listed six teams that could dethrone the Chiefs: the Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, New York Jets, Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles.

The Bengals have proven themselves to be Super Bowl contenders over the last three years when healthy, and after they were riddled with injuries last year, they seem spry once again.

They do, however, have the contract situations of wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to sort out, and both will need to get their extensions before the season starts so they will not be distracted.

Detroit had a marvelous 2023 season by winning the NFC North and getting to the NFC Championship Game, yet one has to wonder if there is a ceiling on how well quarterback Jared Goff can perform in big games.

The 49ers, of course, took the Chiefs to the very brink in last season’s Super Bowl, and if they resolve the contract situations of Brandon Aiyuk and Trent Williams, they will go very far in the playoffs again.

On the other hand, there are those who doubt the Jets, Texans and Eagles.

The Texans are very talented but may not be ready, the Eagles still have some issues to sort out and the Jets, according to some, may still be a hard luck franchise despite possessing lots of talent.
