People outside of the Tri-state area aren’t expecting much from the New York Giants this season, but the Giants are hoping to at least put together the foundation for success in the near future.

They went 6-11 last season as they had problems all across their roster, including the ACL tear that limited starting quarterback Daniel Jones to six games and a lack of wide receiver threats.

But now, they have rookie wideout Malik Nabers, who has star potential, and they’re hoping he will help Jones finally break out.

While on WFAN radio, Nabers said his relationship with Jones has been “absolutely great” and that he’s been looking to build chemistry with Jones.

New York had the No. 6 pick in April’s draft, and there was speculation they may use it on a quarterback after Jones failed to develop or improve much since entering the NFL in 2019.

But they instead went with Nabers, a first-team All-SEC selection in 2023 who put up an NCAA FBS-high 1,569 receiving yards, as well as 14 touchdowns, last season.

While the Giants lost to the Houston Texans 28-10 this past weekend in preseason action, Nabers flashed his potential with four catches for 54 yards.

They were 30th in points and 31st in passing yards in 2023, and in Jones’ time with them, they have struggled to be no better than average in a number of key offensive categories.

New York likely won’t make the playoffs this year, but if Nabers lives up to his expectations, perhaps Jones will see a bump in his production and the organization will experience a bump in optimism for the immediate future.
