At one point during his NFL career, namely during his time with the Dallas Cowboys, defensive end Randy Gregory was considered to be a pass rusher on the rise with a potentially bright future ahead.

Unfortunately for Gregory, after a short stint with the San Francisco 49ers last season after getting traded to the Bay Area by the Denver Broncos, his career has headed in the wrong direction.

In a strange twist, Gregory has been in a legal battle with the Broncos organization over alleging getting discriminated against while in Denver, which has bled over into a seemingly always-doomed stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Gregory signed a one-year deal with the Buccaneers during the offseason but never showed up to training camp, nor did he play in the last two preseason games, which has resulted in him being released by the team, leaving head coach Todd Bowles looking for an answer but being content with moving on via Jenna Laine of ESPN.

“I’ll never find out, but I wish him the best, and we’ll move on from there,” Bowles said. “Can’t miss what you never had.”

Gregory seems to have some issues to work out off the field, which may have derailed his chances of resurrecting his career with the Buccaneers after playing 12 games with the 49ers last season.

It’ll be interesting to see where Gregory’s career goes from here and whether he’ll be given another chance with an NFL team after the way he treated the Buccaneers franchise, which probably won’t sit well with other potential suitors.
