NFL players are more empowered now than ever.
They don’t like to feel undervalued, underappreciated, underpaid, and disrespected.
Sometimes, that has led to big misunderstandings, and more often than not, players get offended by the way their teams treat them.
This time, however, Matthew Judon might have a valid point.
When asked about his departure from the New England Patriots and why they weren’t able to strike a deal, he admitted that he could never even get the team’s brass to the table to discuss a new contract.
Talking to NBC Sports Boston, the new Atlanta Falcons star claimed that he felt a ‘big disconnect’ between both parties, as all the conversations came via text or on the phone.
“We never sat down and came to the table… it was just always through text message or phone calls.”

That’s just not the way to deal with this kind of situation, especially knowing how disgruntled he was and that he was willing to leave the team if they weren’t able to meet somewhere in the middle.
Granted, Judon had already gone through the same thing last season before barely being able to play because of a biceps injury, but that’s just a common courtesy when doing business with anybody.
Now, he hasn’t gotten a new contract with the Falcons either, and he’s entering the final campaign of his current contract.
Hopefully, his new team will deal with this situation differently, and even if their proposal doesn’t meet his demands, they will at least get him and his representatives in a room to discuss this matter face-to-face.
