One of the most challenging things to do in professional sports as a rookie is to replace a legend and make an impression in your first season on the professional level, but that might be what rookie offensive tackle Tyler Guyton is doing with the Dallas Cowboys ahead of the 2024 NFL season.

During the NFL offseason, future Hall of Famer Tyron Smith decided to leave the Cowboys in NFL free agency in favor of signing with the New York Jets to help protect superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the 2024 campaign.

With the Cowboys losing Smith in free agency, the team addressed the loss of the veteran tackle by selecting Guyton with the No. 29 overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, which is turning out to be an excellent move for America’s Team.

According to Brandon Loree of Blogging The Boys, Guyton is the highest-rated offensive tackle from this rookie class after the first two preseason games for the Cowboys and is ranked ninth among all offensive tackles, which is impressive, to say the least.

Although this is great news for the Cowboys, who recently lost such an important player on the offensive line, this is an incredibly small sample size during the NFL preseason, which is difficult to compare to when games start counting in terms of wins and losses during the regular season.

This is a positive development for the Cowboys, as it could mean the offense keeps clicking like it did last year, but only time will tell if Guyton is the real deal and ready to replace a legend.
